JOB DESCRIPTION: Assistant Educator (part-time, non-exempt, Grade G)
REPORTS TO: Senior Educator, Community Partnership & Access Programs
DATES: On call
WORK HOURS: As scheduled/needed
SPECIFICATIONS: Required: Bachelor of Arts in the areas of Art History, Art Education, or related field and experience teaching school age children, or the equivalent combination of education and experience; strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office; comfortable interacting with audiences of diverse backgrounds and ability to maintain effective working relationships with other colleagues, museum visitors, and outside partners and contractors.
Preferred :Studio art experience; knowledge of art history, experience working with volunteers; experience teaching or working with high school students.
SCHEDULE: Part-time work during 8 weeks in June and July
and on occasional weekends and evenings throughout the year, dependent upon program schedule.
JOB PURPOSE: To assist Multigenerational Learning staff in planning, implementing, and facilitating museum education programs.
DUTIES, WORK PERFORMED:
Support Multigenerational Learning staff in developing and implementing museum education programs for youth, families, and teens;
Help to train and oversee Museum Teen Assistants and supervise occasional contract staff and volunteers in conjunction with programmatic activities;
Perform administrative tasks in support of program planning and implementation including reserving spaces, managing registration, ordering and preparing supplies;
Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
