JOB DESCRIPTION: On Cal Audio-Visual Assistant
Grade G, Nonexempt
REPORTS TO: Museum Events Manager
SUPERVISES: No one
MINIMUM OF RANGE: $16.83/hour
SPECIFICATIONS: Required: A high school diploma or documented equivalent. Two plus years of experience in AV or related field. Able to handle complex tasks. Ability to use stairs and ladders. Comfortable working at significant heights, such as grids, lifts, ladders, and catwalks. Able to transport objects weighing up to 60 pounds. Willing to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, evenings, and weekends.
Preferred: Proven working knowledge of theatrical and corporate AV terminology and documentation. Confident in troubleshooting signal flow issues, sometimes while under pressure. Adaptable to last minute changes and ability to maintain the technical expertise necessary to make them happen. Collaborate effectively with volunteers, staff, clients and the general public.
Support and maintain audio-visual equipment in public gallery spaces, the Farrell Auditorium, the restaurant, private conference spaces and classrooms throughout the Museum. This includes operating, maintaining, distributing, and configuring various electronic products while ensuring their optimal performance and being sensitive to the museum’s collection. Provide technical and audio/visual services for museum functions, programs, events and rentals. Assist in organizing video recording, and presentation services, and support Museum staff and volunteers in the preparation of presentations. Work closely with the Museum Events department to ensure all technical services and audiovisual requests and requirements are integrated into all Museum activities and events.
