Sandberg Phoenix is recruiting for a Library and Information Services Manager to lead and manage information resources in supporting the firm’s four practices areas.
Following are a sample of the duties and responsibilities that will challenge you and provide opportunities to develop a strategic and innovative approach to our information services.
Essential duties and responsibilities:

Oversee all aspects of law library operation, personnel, long-range planning, budget development and implementation, legal reference and research, collection development, library automation, planning and management of library space and facilities.

Design, implement, and oversee library systems, including collection development, acquisitions, cataloging, accounting, circulation, and interlibrary loan activities.

Conducts in-depth research across a wide range of focuses including practice-specific areas of law, business intelligence, public records, legislative history, medical and news/media.

Produce competitive intelligence reports for the firm’s business development efforts.

Provides guidance to attorneys and paralegals on sources and strategies for research.

Recommends resources and solutions regarding practice group resource needs.

Prepare budget proposals, and establish and maintain financial controls over library expenditures.

Train, supervise and evaluate law library personnel.

Review contracts, negotiate with vendors and maintains vendor relationships.

Conducts periodic reviews of new and existing electronic resources with an eye toward improved service and research efficiencies.

Manage the firm’s expert witness data to include categorizing and cataloging expert witness information electronically.

Administer computer-aided legal research systems and non-legal information databases.

Conduct library orientation for incoming attorneys and staff, and facilitate summer associate research training.

Participates in professional seminars, workshops and library services organizations.

Promote library services and resources to other departments, students, vendors, and the public.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Interpersonal communication skills in order to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.

Strong organizational and problem solving skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Leadership and managerial supervisory skills necessary to organize, coordinate, and supervise a staff.

Working knowledge of Microsoft products along with various online research database platforms.

Adaptable to apply new resources and technologies.
PRIOR EXPERIENCE:
-
Three years of progressive responsible work experience with legal or other professional service organizations in order to gain knowledge of legal bibliography, legal research and law library procedures.
EDUCATION:
-
Bachelor’s Degree with a Masters in Library Science
