As a docketing specialist, you will receive challenging projects and handle responsibilities to include:

  • Review legal documents in order to calculate, record and disseminate timely response dates pursuant to court rules and civil procedure.
  • Search court electronic filing systems with a focus on hearing dates and deposition notices.
  • Register attorneys for telephonic depositions on various court reporter sites.
  • Utilize asbestos database in managing status of cases and trial dates. 
  • Filing of hearing notices in preparation for court hearings.
  • Prepare various reports identifying future depositions and expiring deposition tenders.
  • Order and save deposition transcripts and exhibits in firm’s document management system.
  • Prepare attorneys for depositions to include securing documents such as exhibits and interrogatories. 
  • Process court reporter invoices. 
  • Create final bill request forms.
  • Assist asbestos LA service teams with preparation of legal departments as needed.

Your Knowledge, Skills and Abilities should include:

  • Solid knowledge of court procedures and court rules.
  • Ability to use legal resources and various court websites to obtain case dockets, rules and procedures. 
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys and staff in person, by email and telephone to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
  • Proficient in Microsoft products along with Internet searching skills. 
  • Strong proofreading and keyboarding skills. 
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including personal computer, copier, scanners and telephone.
  • Work occasionally requires more than 37.5 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Work occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain when performing a high volume of clerical tasks and performing other essential duties.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE:

  • One plus years working in the legal field.

EDUCATION:

  • Associate Degree in paralegal studies or business related degree.
