THE SAINT LOUIS ART MUSEUM: CURATORIAL AFFAIRS
JOBDESCRIPTION:RESEARCH ASSISTANT PART- TIME, NON-EXEMPT
MINIMUM OF RANGE: $15.30/hour
REPORTSTO: CURATOR,DECORATIVE ARTS & DESIGN
QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in history of art, design, or material culture, with general knowledge of the decorative artsis required. Strong research skills required; readingknowledgeof one or more European languages is desired. Experience with TMS (The Museum System) database desired. Excellent computer and software skills required.
JOBPURPOSE: Working with the Curator and the Assistant Curator, the research assistant will provide research support for the decorative arts and design department. The candidate will primarily conduct research on the Museum’s decorative arts and design collection, which currently numbers approximately 5,000 objects from the Renaissance to contemporary, to support a forthcoming reinstallation of the Museum’s 17 galleries and period rooms. The candidate will also provide research to prepare, write, and edit interpretive texts.
