-BUSINESS ANALYST-
Unique, exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Analyst! Do you enjoy consulting with people, improving processes, and being involved with a wide variety of projects? Thompson Coburn LLP currently has an exempt position available in our St. Louis office for a full time Business Analyst with a minimum of two years of experience in leading or managing projects and a minimum of five years of experience in business or systems analysis, preferably at a law firm. Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience. PMP certification and CBAP certification is preferable. The person selected for this position must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities

Collects, analyzes, and prepares business, functional, system, and quality requirements, use cases, specifications and business process diagrams textually and through visual modeling methods and tools.

Validates and manages project requirements.

Plans, designs, develops, and communicates solutions to improve business and technical processes.

Performs data analysis and business intelligence analysis in support of executive and practice group management objectives.

Plans, designs, and develops solutions using appropriate tools.

Consults with I.T. technical staff, users, outside consultants and vendors, as appropriate, to refine the scope and definition of assigned projects to ensure successful completion in a timely manner. Performs workflow analysis, systems analysis, and user and system requirements analysis.

Develops and coordinates implementation plans for development projects.

Designs and tests applications and databases using a variety of approved tools.

Documents, communicates, and maintains product-centric procedures, such as routine maintenance, upgrade procedures, testing plans, and known issues and workarounds.

Evaluates, analyzes, and creates specifications that integrate third-party products with other systems and products to improve efficiencies.

Gathers, analyzes, and communicates information about upcoming product enhancements, updates, and technological advances.

Evaluates, coordinates, schedules, and manages software and hardware updates to third-party products.

Provides second-tier support to end users for managed products and submit, coordinate, and manage technical support issues with third-party vendors.

Develops and maintains project plans and project-specific processes where applicable, such as change control, to ensure that requirements, milestones, deliverables, and activities are scoped, communicated, understood, coordinated, and managed.

Coordinates and leads project resources in a cross-functional environment.

Validates and manages project requirements.

Monitors, manages, and communicates project performance and status reports to project stakeholders.

Assists with project initiation evaluations, such as cost-benefit or return on investment, and provides recommendations.

Ensures appropriate written documentation is created and maintained to enable other personnel to keep systems operational.

Customizes third-party systems using proprietary development tools and utilities.

Communicates with vendors, trade groups, and professional organizations to stay abreast of domain-specific and business trends, and best practices.

Maintains business analysis, project management and product management library of model documents, templates and reusable knowledge assets.

Authors user-facing training deliverables, such as written procedural guides and hands-on training sessions.

Delivers presentations to practice and administrative groups.
Job Requirements

Must be proficient in the methods, tools, techniques, and best practices of the business analysis profession.

Must know how to effectively use common tools, such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access, for data analysis, data mining, and data scrubbing and Microsoft Visio for process and workflow diagramming.

Must be adept at collecting information through advanced communication, questioning and interviewing techniques.

Must be familiar with the methods, tools, techniques, and best practices of project management.

Must be able to comprehend fundamental programming, scripting, and report writing.

Must exhibit a collaborative style and strong facilitation, negotiation, and persuasion skills.

Must be skilled at adapting technology to efficiently meet and serve user needs.

Must possess a high level of professionalism and interpersonal skills so as to be able to work well with employees at all levels within the organization and maintain all information in the strictest of confidence. Required to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with others.

Must have ability to read, write and communicate fluent English; ability to compose documents in the appropriate business style using correct grammar and spelling; ability to communicate clearly using proper grammar and diction over the telephone.

This is a full time position which requires working in the office a minimum of 40 hours on a regular basis. Oftentimes it may also include working outside normal business hours to ensure completion of position requirements.

The physical demands of this position are representative of those that might be met by an employee in order for him or her to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. These includes being both mobile and stationary throughout the workday, having the ability to transport 20 pounds and being able to operate a computer and other business equipment found in the office.
