Assist the Chief Preparator and Senior Preparator in all technical aspects of art handling with regard to installation, packing and unpacking, and storage of objects under the direction of the Registrar, Conservators, and Curators. Preparators also assist with the maintenance and organization of art storage areas, as well as providing routine maintenance for all museum galleries.

These positions will only be on-site during peak times, for special projects and to help when staffing levels are low.  There is no regular schedule.  Scheduling flexibility is key as our needs may range from a full 40+ hour week to 0 hours in off-peak times. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS: 
  High School Diploma or equivalent.  A Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred. One to two years of experience in exhibit installation and preparations is required; knowledge of fine arts, artistic materials and exhibit construction is desired.  The ability to work unscheduled overtime during periods of installation/de-installation is required. Candidates should be able to lift heavy crates and art, including paintings, sculpture and furniture. We are seeking organized, careful individuals with basic woodworking and computer skills. The ideal candidates will be responsible, self-motivated, dependable and able to work cooperatively as a member of a team. The candidates must also maintain a professional demeanor and be willing to work under direct supervision.
