SPECIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. Extensive application support experience with Cisco network infrastructure. Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including routers, switches, firewalls and IP telephony systems. Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience. Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws. Strong communication skills, including ability to present ideas in user-friendly language. Keen attention to detail. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
JOB PURPOSE:
Ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer network. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. Analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.
DUTIES, WORK PERFORMED:
Strategy & Planning
- Perform network design and capacity planning.
- Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.
Acquisition & Deployment
- Deploy and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, encryption systems, and all Network security systems.
- Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
- Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
Operational Management
- Manage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, network admission control systems and intrusion detection systems.
- Manage all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPSs.
- Manage IP telephony system.
- Manage input/output fleet, including printers and scanners.
- Ensure the integrity and security of enterprise network information.
- Ensure network connectivity of all workstations.
- Administer all network equipment, hardware and software upgrades.
- Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
- Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
- Perform network security audits.
- Perform and test routine system backups and restores.
- Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
- Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
- Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
MINIMUM OF RANGE: $62,694/year
