Our Information Associates meet and greet visitors, give directions and answer visitors’ questions in a friendly and courteous manner. They are also responsible for selling maps and FONZ memberships and renting strollers. Information Associates must have strong communication and customer service skills.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing unsurpassed service to visitors, including maintaining general knowledge of the exhibits, wildlife, and amenities, answering questions and finding ways to inspire visitors
- Greeting visitors , anticipating their needs, and providing a positive experience
- Ensuring the safety of visitors in the Zoo and aiding visitors who need the assistance of the Health Unit or NZP Police
- Handling cash and non-cash transactions to collect fees, including providing accurate change and balancing daily revenue to daily sales
- Selling and achieving sales goals of memberships and maps as well as renting strollers, electric scooters, and wheelchairs
- Directing visitors to various exhibits and amenities within the Zoo
- Acting as Zoo ambassadors by seeking out guest contact and enhancing the guest experience
- Providing information about Zoo exhibits, daily schedules, special events, or membership
- Keeping work area clean, organized, and stocked with appropriate supplies and materials.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age of 16 years or older
- Previous cash handling and/or sales experience preferred
- Must possess excellent communication skills
- Must be courteous, friendly, and helpful
- Proactive and outgoing nature
- Availability to work weekends, evenings and holidays
- Ability to work effectively in a fast paced environment
- Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time in a variety of weather conditions
- Ability to frequently lift, push, and carry objects of up to 25 lbs
